Berger Paints and Beckers formed a JV in 1996 to meet the increasing demand for quality coatings in India. The rest is a success story – that continues to evolve.
Last week, Lindéngruppen CEO and Chair of Beckers Group Fabio Pedrazzi, together with Beckers CEO Christophe Sabas, had the honour of inaugurating the new Berger Beckers resin plant in Nagpur, India. A significant investment that was delivered without any recordable injuries for the entire project duration of 764 days. The plant has state of the art automation, runs on bio-briquettes and will employ up to 50 people at peak capacity. The site has the option to expand capacity further.
Fabio Pedrazzi, accompanied by the Beckers Group Board members Haining Auperin, Malin Persson and Marcello Boldrini, underlined the importance and the excitement for this milestone:
"We are committed to India and the new plant in Nagpur clearly is a testimony to that. The growth fundamentals are very strong in Berger Beckers' key segments. We are well positioned to take market share in all of these. In addition, we will continue to create value from a societal and environmental aspect. One area where we can do better is gender equality. There is no shortage of female talent, and we can do more to hire and develop women into all areas of the business – laboratory, marketing, production, finance etc."
He continues: "This investment marks a significant strategic choice, with Beckers' only backward-integrated operation globally. During this week's customer meetings, partner- and townhall discussions – it is clear that we have a strong value proposition, the scale and the entrepreneurial spirit to prosper in the years to come. I love the passion of this team – they will find opportunities and service their customers better than any other organisation in the market."
