Ung Aktiv 9

Ung Aktiv 9 is an outreach programme run by Helsingborgs IF football club that aims to help youngsters make the right social choices and avoid involvement in hooliganism, violence and gang-related activities.

Launched in mid-2014, the project is aimed at 15- and 16-year-olds in their last year of secondary school. Lindéngruppen co-funds Ung Aktiv 9's work.

Ung Aktiv 9 visits schools to advise youngsters on how making active choices can help them evade social pitfalls. In its first year the initiative reached 400 students in the city.

In-class presentations use first-hand experiences from adults once involved in violence to highlight the potential consequences of making bad choices, such as getting caught up in hooliganism and other violence.

Through interactive sessions, students gain insight into how to avoid making such choices. They also learn that all individuals have the power to change and choose a positive path even if they have made mistakes.

As part of the programme, students produce a theatre performance staged in collaboration with Helsingborg City Theatre and professional actors from the local Teater Reagera theatre group.

The programme concludes with free attendance for all at a Helsingborgs IF match against a side from Sweden's top Allsvenskan league. Before the game, the students get together for activities connected to personal values and non-violence.
